Council Members and Officers

A.D. McCarthy MBIE, Dip FD, BIFD

A qualified Embalmer (1965) and Funeral Director (1970).

With nearly 40 years in the funeral service, he has held management positions in Liverpool, Hartlepool, South Yorkshire, and from 1984 to 2001 was National Funeral Manager for the Co-operative Retail Services Ltd (one of the country's largest Funeral Directors). He is a Past President of The Co-operative Funeral Service Managers' Association and Past President of The Funeral Standards Council, a former member of the Council of the National Association of Co-operative Officials and of Council of the Funeral Ombudsman Scheme.

He has been a member of the Council since 2003.
