• Number of crematoria: 2,077

• Note on the statistics of cremations:
  80% of Thai people are Buddhist and therefore cremation is the usual method of disposal. With the exception of the Northern Province where open air cremation
  in a cemetery is still the custom, crematoria are located at temples which could number 20,000. However the above figure is based on the number of crematoria
  that have registered with the Department of Provincial Administration Thailand since 1993.
